Laneways - Meyers Place & Guildford Lane, Melbourne
I love Melbourne CBD laneways. You never know what you’ll discover and especially what greenery you might see. And two favourites that I enjoy visiting often are Meyers Place and Guildford Lane.
Meyers Place runs between Bourke St & Little Collins St and I particularly enjoy the large nature mural at the corner and the greenwall facade of Loop Roof. I’ve often stood there looking up discerning what’s growing, how it looks and pondering which of these plants I can try using in different locations myself based on how well they’re growing here.
Guildford Lane is tucked parallel between La Trobe St & Little Lonsdale St. It’s filled with solid tough potted plants that show what will survive in pots in semi-shaded light. I love the history of how this greenery infiltration started, passionate gardeners wanting to improve a space, and ponder on why there needed to be an initial push back by council before they eventually came on board.
And thanks Sophia Loren for your words of wisdom to live by.
All ability accessible at all times.
